For this blog post I chose to write about some of the topics I found interesting that will be covered by speakers at the conference. I came across these topics while doing research on the different presenters for the conference. Since we need to decide in advance which sessions we want to attend, I decided to dig a little deeper into the topics they would be discussing. I wanted to choose sessions and back-ups that would benefit me the most as someone who is graduating in spring and wants to go into corporate events. I found the schedule of breakouts with the topics and presenters here!

One of the first sessions that looked interesting to me was “How to Communicate Luxury” by Suzanne Droese. I want to have a career as an Events professional, and I want my work to communicate professionalism and high quality. Even though I don’t necessarily want to work in luxury events, I feel like you always want your guests to feel like they are being treated to a luxurious experience when they attend your event. You want to make them feel like they are getting so much more than they paid for, and I think this session will give me some insights on how to best do that.

Another session I was interested in was “The Future of Brand Engagement: How Gen Z is Changing PR and Social Media For Good” by Matt Prince. I think this could be very interesting to hear about since many companies that are not as familiar with the use of social media think they can just hop on and create an account and be successful. Many people don’t realize how much research and work it actually takes to run a successful social media campaign or account.

One final session I am looking forward to attending is “Reaching for the Stars” by Rita Tateel. This session is about how you can successfully utilize celebrities and influencers to bring attention to your campaign or event. I think this is an important topic, especially in the rise of social media influencers and the decline of traditional celebrities. I think this will be an interesting thing to learn how to do successfully.

There are a few breakouts where I have not yet decided which session I want to attend, but I think I will be able to tell as I do more research on the presenters giving those talks, and how I could connect with those people for other advice and to hear about their additional experiences.
